A professional deep clean usually takes 3 to 4.5 labour hours for a studio or 1-bedroom condo, and 8 to 11 labour hours for a 4-bedroom house. With a team of two, a 3-bedroom home is typically done in 3 to 4.5 hours on the clock.
Labour hours vs. clock time
Labour hours are the total time all cleaners spend working. Two cleaners working 3 hours each equals 6 labour hours, but you only wait 3 hours. Always ask a company whether its time estimate is per cleaner or for the whole team.
Deep clean times by home size
| Home size | Deep clean (labour hours) |
|---|---|
| Studio or 1-bedroom condo (400–700 sq ft) | 3.0–4.5 |
| 2-bedroom condo or small house (700–1,000 sq ft) | 4.5–6.0 |
| 3-bedroom house or large condo (1,000–1,600 sq ft) | 6.0–8.5 |
| 4-bedroom detached house (1,600–2,400 sq ft) | 8.0–11.0 |
| Larger homes (2,400+ sq ft) | 11.0–16.0 |
What makes a deep clean take longer
- The first deep clean after a long gap, or heavy grease and soap scum
- Pets, especially hair on carpets and upholstery
- Extra bathrooms, glass shower doors or marble surfaces
- Add-ons such as inside the oven or fridge
- Clutter on floors and counters that must be moved first
