Welcome to the Topic “How to Deep Clean Every Room in Your House”
Deep cleaning does not have to be a daunting or hard task. Use these pointers to get through each room swiftly and efficiently.
Start with these thorough cleaning tips as you walk through each area in your house to speed up the process.
- Declutter
Any apparent clutter that is not supposed to be in the room should be relocated (or, better yet, removed). Save the items behind closed doors for another day to make your deep cleaning checklist easier. Getting rid of clutter makes deep cleaning easier, and seeing those clean surfaces might motivate you to keep cleaning.
- Begin high and work your way down
Ceiling, ceiling trim, ceiling light fixtures, walls, the rest of the trim, and baseboards should be tackled in this order. A microfiber mop or cloth with a telescoping handle is the best tool for these surfaces. Bonus: Most of these tools are thin enough to fit behind the sofa without moving it. On the mop above eye level, a spritz of water is all that’s required. Use warm water and dish soap to wipe surfaces closer to the floor, collecting dirt and dust. To prevent mold and mildew in bathrooms, add a dash of white vinegar to the mix. Use a microfiber cloth in places where a mop would be difficult or inconvenient.
- Clean Windows Thoroughly
Cleaning windows is a simple task with a big payback. Vacuum the sills and tracks first. Then, from top to bottom, spray the window with glass cleaner. Allow the cleaner to work for a minute before squeegeeing it off. It will be simpler to see and fix streaks if you wipe them in one way on inside glass and another on outside windows.
- Freshen Up Your Window Treatments
Become time-efficient by not having to take down your blinds or shades. It’s just a matter of vacuuming them using the brush attachment. Instead of washing and ironing curtains, fluff them for a few minutes in the dryer (while you wipe off the rod and rings). Then immediately hang them up again.
- Wipe Down All Surfaces
Wipe off any remaining hard surfaces (wood furniture, shelves, built-ins, etc.) with a soft cloth and furniture polish and cleaner. Use a clean cotton tube sock and dust surfaces while moving objects out of the way with the other hand for an extra-quick clean. Finally, clean the lampshades using a lint roller.
- Clean the Floors Thoroughly
To do this properly, you’ll need to relocate the furniture, including larger pieces like mattresses and sofas. Place furniture sliders beneath the legs of large items to make moving them easier. Then use the crevice tool on your vacuum to get at the debris in corners and along baseboards. If you have a hard floor, use a microfiber mop and a surface-specific cleaner to clean it. Now is a wonderful opportunity to rent a professional-grade carpet cleaner if you have carpet. (And if you have pets or children, consider getting your own.)
